Correspondence Players

I'm not asking for correspondence play here, it isn't the right fit for Lichess. I'm more interested in knowing whether there are any other correspondence players here and if so, whether that's through the ICCF or elsewhere.
Ive played CC for around 10 years (and still suck).
Played on gameknot, chessworld, chesshere and redhotpawn.
Having now seen what passes for play in the "official" world of the ICCF, don't be so quick to discount yourself. I was certain that I'd be delivered a series of defeats when I (re-)joined the Correspondence Chess League of Australia a few months ago and I've been somewhat pleasantly surprised that the opposite has been (mostly) the case.

Although there are a couple of "friendly" matches coming up which might result in my getting clobbered, but when it's AU/NZ vs. Russia and AU/NZ vs. Germany, that's hardly a surprise. Put it this way, Australia only has 11 titled correspondence players at the moment (1 GM, 1 LGM, 6 IMs and 3 SIMs), New Zealand has 3 (1 GM and 2 SIMs), Russia has 111 (15 GMs, 5 LGMs, 43 IMs, 42 SIMs and 6 LIMs).

Anyway, I'm just a little relieved that I'm not the only one here.
I used to play on ICCF, I was champion of lithuanian correspondence chess first league in 2010/2011. I played only 2 tournaments (I lost many games in the first tournament on time because I wasn't serious enough), and then I won the championship. I did enjoy it when I was practising chess a lot, then I quited chess for 3 years, now it's already few months since I'm back learning and following everything, so maybe I will come back to play iccf next year. I do count only iccf as serious correspondence chess just because it's official fide website? Anyway just letting you know you are not alone :D

Heheh. That must've come as a shock to a few people.

Technically ICCF isn't part of FIDE, it's always been independent, but the titles are recognised between the two, that sort of thing, I think the ratng adjustment is about 50 points (more or less and in FIDE's favour for obvious reasons). Also the ICCF is the third incarnation of other CC organisations and those predated FIDE (by about 20 to 40 years), which is why the member federations from many countries appear to be older than it. My lot, the CCLA, have been kicking around since the late '20s.

And yeah, I agree, if you're not running around physically attending FIDE rated tournaments, then the ICCF is pretty much the only other rating that is going to mean much. Well, beyond the idealistic intended purpose, merely as a guage or estimate of comparative ability.
Oh I see, you told me few new things :). Well since I'm seriously back in chess, I will definely participate in fide rated tournaments, but I like correspondence chess as well. Correspondence games are best to learn openings from, even grandmasters with rating of 2700++ often watch correspondence games to catch the opening ideas and plans due to obvious reasons :)
Yeah, you can find some quite interesting positions through those games and it is *so* much better now that it's online. When I first joined the CCLA in the '90s everything was still postal and, well, the novelty wore off pretty fast. Also with postage a single game could easily cost $20 to $30, compare that to a handful of Euro for any given tournament (of at least 6 games) now and it's really quite cheap. It's the only thing I use PayPal for these days.

Oh, I found your profile over there. It would be such a shame to leave a rating like that to dissipate. It it kept going the way it was headed and the way it appears headed here, you'd probably get an IM after your name within two or three years (depending on number of games played at a time, of course).
Well, you inspired me a little bit, I think I will register in few tournaments there for sure :). I wish I played seriously my first tournament, to get even higher rating, but I guess it's fine anyway.
Actually, according to the records there you only lost 2 games, drew 2 and won the other 12. The 2 lost were from years ago, the two drawn were in the championship and you didn't lose anything in the championship. Chances are the time laziness was in regional games that weren't rated (or listed). You've still got a listed rating of 2113.
