LITLIFE HOUSE CHESS CLUB MORAL CODE

  1. Courtesy: To be polite to others
    i.e., quietly listening to your teacher or student while he/she explains a concept or technique shows courtesy
  2. Honesty: To be sincere with your thoughts and actions. Do things that are morally correct. Act truthfully. Make an honest effort to always stay truthful and mean everything you say
    i.e., owning up if you do something wrong and telling the truth
  3. Honor: To do what is right and stand by your principles. Be someone who acts nobly and correctly
    i.e., compete withing the rules, don’t cheat
  4. Modesty: To be without ego in your action and thoughts. Being modest is the opposite of being arrogant.
    i.e., accepts your wins gracefully, without showing off or boasting
  5. Respect: to show appreciation of others and honor the principles of etiquette.
    i.e., admire and appreciate your club mates when they do something well
  6. Self-control: To be in control of your emotions and oneself. Chess can be an emotional sport. Deal with disappointment with self-control and without becoming rude or aggressive.
    i.e., dealing with losing a contest in a graceful manner
  7. Excellence: To endeavor to excel. To foster the spirit of effort. Striving to do more and be great even if that means making errors along the way.
    i.e., the effort, will and desire to learn even when you do a mistake or lose a game.
